Find and fix common problems
Start with the screen you can see and the message the player actually reports. Avoid changing several settings at once. After one deliberate change, save and check the result.
I cannot open the administration page
- Check the television is on the correct input and Cinema Sign is running.
- Read the current player address from its screen/settings. Ethernet and Wi-Fi can have different addresses.
- Enter the full address, including its port if shown, and use
http://for the usual local service. - Make sure the phone/computer can reach the player's network. Guest Wi-Fi or client isolation can block it.
- If the address changed, update your bookmark. Ask the network installer about a stable address.
The browser says Screen offline
The control panel lost its live connection and retries. Check player power, network and whether Cinema Sign is restarting. Cached content may still be visible on the TV. If the app does not return, reopen it with the remote and investigate the cause.
A film exists but does not play
Check its enabled state, Disable Poster/Trailer switches, cached media and the selection formula. Scheduled sessions needs qualifying sessions; Coming Soon needs the selection and a formula that includes it. Clear film-search filters and check every table page.
The wrong poster or trailer was chosen
Select the film, search for the exact catalogue title/year and choose the intended asset. Preview before downloading. Check local title/media overrides and reset to imported values only when you want the source to control them again.
A trailer is missing or cannot play
The centred message uses the actual film title and lasts five seconds. Check cached status, download result, free space and encoding. Choose or upload a valid trailer and confirm playback on the Android device.
A poster is missing
The player holds its last good poster, or black if no good poster is available, and shows a small missing-media indicator. Check the missing title in Playback, restore its artwork and confirm the next cycle. An unreadable image can act like a missing file.
The session board is empty or a film is omitted
Check the date/time, today's remaining sessions, Session Disappears After, source import and selection formula. The built-in board also needs a cached poster for each film row. “No sessions remaining today” can be correct after the final screening.
Times or dates are wrong
Compare the player's Unit Time and Android timezone with the cinema. Check any provider Venue Timezone. Check dated session entries, especially after midnight. TaPOS BLOAD times without dates belong to the import day; TaPOS MEDIA2 is a separate dated feed.
Import succeeds but the programme belongs to another cinema
Review the provider URL, site/venue identifiers and screen filters. A public demo feed or sandbox success is not acceptance of your venue's programme. Ask the ticketing team to verify publication/cancellation rules.
An import fails but pictures keep moving
The player may be using previously stored data. Review Import Status and Data Update Log; check connectivity, credentials and provider availability. Do not assume playback means the timetable is fresh.
I cannot reach the bottom of the provider list
Scroll within the provider-selection window, not the page behind it. The current interface has all 38 inputs. Planned providers in the website catalogue are not selectable yet.
No advert appears
Check Clock-synchronized Playback Order, this player's poster/trailer advertising switch, saved interval, viable asset, enabled state, weight above 0 and campaign dates. Check Up Next before expecting an immediate advert. Followers need their own advertising enabled.
Adverts appear too often
Check the interval in seconds against Poster Delay. A one-slot interval can make every poster slot an advert. Poster intervals round up to boundaries; trailer adverts wait for the current video. Restore normal values after a short test.
The URL preview is blank
Some websites block the control panel's embedded preview. Test the actual television: its WebView opens the URL directly. Check certificate, player connectivity, sign-in requirements and whether the page can be shown without scrolling.
The URL advert loads slowly or its animation stops
Check Playback's next URL preload state. Only one future page loads up to 30 seconds ahead. A slow source, heavy page or startup within an advert slot can delay it. Rendering resumes while visible; the page is destroyed at the slot's end. Use a lighter page and enough reading time, then test on the actual player.
Two signs do not change together
Check Clock Sync, master conflicts and matching programme, formula, seed, duration, media and advertising choices. A missing asset can make one screen differ. Timing adjustments only compensate measured display latency.
Open setting on TV does nothing or is unavailable
The Device page checks applicable permissions and available handlers. Refresh permission status. If Android does not provide the screen, use its explanation and ask the installer for a device-specific method. An inapplicable energy setting does not need an exemption.
Cinema Sign does not reopen after boot
Open it once, accept terms, enable Start on Boot and check applicable overlay, energy and alarm permissions. Test the actual device. Retail firmware may restrict background starts; Android Force stop blocks recovery until reopening.
The display does not turn off or on as expected
Check the player's clock, saved display hours, alarm access and the TV's HDMI-CEC support/settings. Test actual sleep/wake. Screen blanking, app wake and television power are different functions.
Clean unused data recovered little space
Read each target's permission result. Protected caches may be blocked; Android may rebuild caches while the app is running. Measured free-space change is more useful than adding up file sizes. Review large unused media with the installer rather than deleting needed files repeatedly.
The previous Data Update Log has disappeared
With storage persistence Off, it lives in RAM. A full process exit or reboot removes it; the next completed update creates a new report. Temporarily enable persistence before reproducing a restart-related issue if necessary.
The app cannot disable system disk logging
Ordinary apps generally lack the required system/root access. A status of unavailable does not mean every Android write is disabled. The installer may have ADB access unavailable to the app. Recheck any installer change after reboot.
An update cannot be installed
Check Upgrade Status, available storage, installer permission and the Android approval screen. Use a compatible official APK over the existing app. Do not uninstall or clear data just to retry.
If the problem remains, collect the information in the support chapter. A clear picture and an exact title/time are more useful than repeatedly restarting the player.
