Security and hardening

Deploy the player as one controlled component inside the cinema or service provider’s documented security programme.

Commissioning baseline

• Change all default web passwords and disable unused accounts.
• Restrict ports 8080 and 2121 to intended cinema networks; do not expose them directly to the Internet.
• Use named roles and least privilege; review access after staff changes.
• Protect the identity/private-key directory and certificate backups.
• Use trusted time and monitor clock health for KDM and schedule decisions.
• Install only signed, approved releases and review update results.
• Test HDCP/display identity and physical output control for protected playback.
• Restrict removable media, FTP sources, automation endpoints and maintenance access.
• Collect logs, document incidents and test recovery.

Default roles

MPA/TPN scope

TPN maintains the MPA Content Security Best Practices as a benchmark of minimum security preparedness and assessments evaluate a defined provider/site/application scope. D‑Cine Player features can supply evidence and controls within that scope, but no software install independently establishes conformance.

EAR‑Tech specifically helps protect supported stored media with AES‑256‑GCM, strong integrity checks and controlled key delivery. Pair it with asset inventory, access control, secure transfer, segmentation, monitoring, retention, deletion, incident response, personnel and physical controls.

Backup and recovery

Back up configuration, identity and licensing material separately from media, encrypt backups, restrict restore authority and test recovery. Never clone one player identity onto multiple production systems. Document who can recover EAR‑Tech mastering keys and how compromise is handled.
