IMF ingest and playback
D‑Cine Player discovers IMF packages from their AssetMap and IMF Composition Playlist, indexes referenced track files, and plays supported unencrypted compositions through the bundled FFmpeg IMF demuxer.
Configure a source
- Open Config → Ingest.
- Add a filesystem or FTP source and select IMF as its asset type.
- Scan the source and select the required IMF composition.
- Allow ingest, integrity checks and media probing to complete.
- Confirm the IMF graphic, duration, picture and audio details in Content.
- Add the composition to a show and run preflight before presentation.
FTP library view
The built-in read-only FTP library separates completed assets into /DCP, /IMF, /EAR and /media. This prevents other systems from treating every managed package as the same asset class.
Supported path
The first qualified path covers unencrypted IMF CPLs whose MXF essence codecs are supported by the bundled FFmpeg build, including the tested JPEG 2000 and PCM reference compositions. The player honours the CPL timeline and referenced track files.
KeyId metadata but does not accept or infer a decryption key. IMF key mapping and delivery are application-defined; production encryption support requires a deliberately configured, tested key-management integration.Terminology
Use IMF, not “ICPL,” for an IMF package or composition. A CPL is the composition document inside either a DCP or IMF context; the package type and namespace determine how it is interpreted.
