First commissioning
Complete and record these checks before relying on automatic starts or presenting to an audience.
1. Identify the installation mode

2. Open and sign in
Use the local application or open http://PLAYER-IP:8080/ on an authorised cinema network where remote access is configured. Use the installation’s issued account information; SSH and web accounts are separate. The installed private Player Instructions.txt contains initial commissioning details. An administrator changes web passwords under Config → Login.
3. Commission in order
- Confirm the running version and site/screen identity on Dashboard and Config → System Details.
- Open Config → Licence. Activate the intended licence or confirm the expected persistent DEMO MODE overlay. Demo Mode has no session time limit. An unregistered demo has no issued product serial.
- Review player trusted time and the venue timezone in the OS. Check the clock offset and time status. Remote operators should align their browser’s timezone with the venue before calendar editing.
- Select the picture path in Playback and Video I/O, then select the audio device and matrix profile. Use Audio & Image Calibration to check the entire display/speaker chain at a safe level.
- Use Config → System → Display & Time to inspect active resolution, refresh and EDID. Select Light or Dark theme for this browser.
- Check both Dashboard disk charts. Use Config → System Details → Media storage consistency if media was moved or a drive was added.
- Declare confirmed manufacturer/model and installed screen capabilities in System Details. Audio/3D/caption declarations describe the screen; they do not enable decoder features.
- Configure an ingest source, import known-good material and its matching KDM where required. Check readiness.
- Create a short test show, rehearse it manually, then validate a temporary scheduled start. Compare the booking with observed SPL/CPL events in Status or the operational audit.
- Configure and test automation with the intended equipment. If presentations are needed, commission AirPlay Casting separately with a real sender.
- Back up identity, licence, configuration and operational data; record hardware, software and recovery ownership.
4. Leave the system ready
Set SCHED deliberately. Lock the web session when leaving. Closing a browser tab does not stop the service; Shift+Q in the focused local playback window closes the application and its services while leaving the computer on.
