DCP Cine Player features
The feature catalogue for the published 4.2.32 release: cinema media, shows, live input, auditorium control, storage, monitoring and integration.
Playback and media
DCP playback
SMPTE/Interop discovery, CPL selection, JPEG 2000 picture, multichannel sound, timed text and KDM/readiness checks. Qualify resolution, bitrate, reel structure and outputs against the selected hardware.
Unencrypted IMF
Ingest AssetMaps/CPLs and referenced MXF tracks, then play supported unencrypted compositions through the bundled FFmpeg path. Encrypted IMF is detected and refused.
Ordinary and encrypted media
Use supported MOV/MP4/M4V/MKV and other bundled-codec paths, or EAR‑Tech authenticated encrypted-at-rest delivery with its KDM workflow.
Workstation review
Select files/DCPs or saved playlists locally; pause, seek, navigate items and review source/output diagnostics. Shift+Q cleanly closes the focused local application.
AirPlay Casting
Receive Apple screen mirroring and compatible Windows AirPlay senders using UxPlay. Bind a specific interface/IPv4, connect with a fresh code and release the reserved output deliberately.
Event streams and SDI input
Configure named network streams locally or from registry templates and insert timed stream items into a show. Compatible DeckLink hardware/builds also expose SDI I/O controls.
Picture, sound and output assurance
Audio routing
Named matrix profiles, per-route gain, device/channel-order choices, meters, channel identification and separate SDI/local matrices.
Display diagnostics
Inspect reported active resolution/Hz, pixel clock/MHz, connector state, EDID identity/raw bytes and advertised timings. Unknown active modes remain unknown.
DeckLink SDI
SDR DCP XYZ/P3/Rec.709 profiles, supported 8/10/12-bit formats, link choices, native/fit/fill geometry and local or embedded audio depend on exact hardware.
D‑Cine Display Lock
Content-selected DDL policy, approved display inventory and protected-output checks. SDI follows separate DDL1 policy; DDL2/DDL3 requests are refused there.
Commissioning
Desktop picture patterns, HUD, decoder/buffer and signal/audio/sync observations support setup. Image patterns do not currently target DeckLink SDI; test that path with media. Confirm physical picture, audio order, sync and safety at the receiver.
Honest capability reporting
Installed 5.1/7.1/IAB and 3D/caption declarations remain separate from actual decoder support. A declaration does not enable or certify a format.
No GPU is currently production-qualified for DDL3 in this release documentation. SDI precision, real sender pairing/audio and final outputs need installation-specific qualification.
Content, shows and schedules
Typed ingest and durable jobs
Filesystem/attached-drive/FTP sources; transfer and integrity phases, cancellation, linked retry, queue priority and explicit uncertain-action reconciliation.
Show Editor
Searchable clips, black/delay, cues/macros and event streams in reusable show playlists. Missing or ambiguous automation warns while otherwise playable media may proceed; media/KDM checks still apply.
Weekly scheduling
Create/edit sessions, push/copy sessions or days/weeks, set operating-day/grid/turnaround and monitor persistent SCHED state. Short sessions expose full names on hover/focus.
Dashboard play order
Show, Start and Mins columns default to chronological order with a countdown based on the sampled player clock.
Automation and control
Device definitions, macros, presets, external triggers and live Control. Create only missing standard empty TMS cues explicitly without overwriting existing actions.
Readable tables
Sortable content, keys, shows, jobs and Status; honest unknowns, observed last-played evidence and light/dark selections. Hide history preserves durable jobs and is not a toggle.
Storage and recovery
Two live charts identify the system/media filesystems and shared space. A bounded administrator check compares media/KDM storage with catalogue paths, sizes, access and free space. Recover unindexed DCPs, KDMs and SPLs through normal validation or explicitly confirm permanent deletion of an unreferenced candidate.
The check itself does not change files or repair permissions. Incomplete scans disable actions; unreferenced does not mean unwanted. Storage and recovery manual.
TMS, discovery and facility metadata
Anonymous discovery
A minimal HTTP JSON probe identifies the product, running version, installation UUID, licence-issued serial and public leaf certificate. Operational data/control remain authenticated.
Actual device metadata
Concrete native schemas expose real publisher/model, issued serial, running components and decoder/screen declarations. Certificate serial and emulated SOAP identity remain distinct.
Program before delivery
Capability-negotiated show/booking APIs preserve identities and report unresolved content/keys rather than pretending a booked show is ready.
Recoverable controls
Seek, previous/next, occurrence jump and unload preserve state and command identity. Controllers wait for confirmed receipt and timeline before subsequent dispatch.
Operational evidence
Named observed SPL/CPL and cue outcomes, readable player-zone Status timestamps and authenticated asynchronous journal exports with explicit coverage.
Catcher / FLM ownership
Player metadata supplies evidence; Catcher handles mapping, overrides and FLM publication. Player connected-device metadata inventory is currently unsupported.
Integration overview and contracts. Operational records are unsigned; API support does not establish certified security logging.
Administration and lifecycle
Access and appearance
Monitor/operator/manager/admin roles, session timeout, administrator-only password changes and a browser-local light/dark theme.
Signed release updates
Newest-first catalogue, pinned manifest/package signatures and package identity checks. Workstation remains the default; Appliance is explicit.
Credits and offline manual
Config → System → Contributions credits Kakadu, DeckLink and open technologies; notices load on demand and can be downloaded offline. The installed manual accompanies the application.
