Install DCP Cine Player
The signed Debian package offers Workstation mode for a normal desktop and Appliance mode for a computer dedicated to cinema playback.
Workstation
Installs the local application and desktop launcher without creating an appliance user, enabling autologin or changing the desktop power/session policy.
Use it for evaluation, content checking and a computer that retains its normal desktop purpose.
Appliance
Creates the player account, configures supported display-manager autologin, starts the player session and applies dedicated screen power behaviour.
Use only on a clean machine reserved for D‑Cine Player.
Install the package
sudo apt install ./dcp-cine-player_VERSION_amd64.debThe installer asks for a mode. After a workstation install, start D‑Cine Player from the application menu. After an appliance install, reboot into the dedicated session.
Offline documentation: the installer copies the complete guide and images to ~/Documents/D-Cine Player/Documentation for the selected desktop user and prints that location when installation finishes.
First commissioning pass
Open
Launch the app or reboot the appliance; open the browser control where applicable.
Secure
Change default web passwords, activate the licence and protect the player certificate/private key.
Configure
Select display, audio device/profile, time, ingest sources and automation.
Test
Run picture/audio calibration, ingest known content and verify KDM and output protection.
Schedule
Create a show, run it manually, then validate scheduler behaviour.
Record
Save commissioning evidence, backup identity/configuration and document recovery ownership.
