Daily operator handbook

Check the player, ingest early, resolve readiness, rehearse the show, schedule it and confirm actual playback.

Start-of-day checks

• Confirm screen identity, running version and intended licence/demo state.
• Read both disk charts and investigate unavailable storage or low free space.
• Confirm trusted player time and venue timezone. Align a remote browser’s timezone before calendar editing.
• Check today’s Dashboard Scheduler list: Show, Start, Mins, earliest start first by default. Countdown uses the sampled player clock.
• Confirm the loaded show, output, processor/audio and automation readiness. Ensure Casting is off unless a presentation is intended.
• Set SCHED deliberately. Its green active indication and dimmed manual controls mean automatic operation is enabled.

Ingest and inspect

1. Open Ingest, choose a configured filesystem/USB/FTP source and scan.
2. Select the intended DCP, IMF, EAR, media or KDM candidates and start the appropriate import. Keep source media attached.
3. Follow Ingest Jobs through transfer, verification and indexing. D-bytes/Total refer to download; Q is queue position. Unknown totals/ETA remain unknown.
4. Open Content and verify identity, type, duration, picture/audio details and readiness. Resolve missing OV/assets and KDM issues before showtime.

Cancel is not complete until the job stops. Retry retains the earlier attempt; use Reconcile after an uncertain action response. Queued priority affects the next waiting work and does not interrupt running work. Sorting the table does not reprioritise jobs.

Hide history asks Yes/No inside the page. It hides terminal jobs for your account and preserves active work, content, durable job and audit records. It is an administrator action, not an on/off visibility toggle; no restore button is provided.

Check keys for the intended performance

In Content → Keys, compare the recipient, CPL/key identity and full validity window with the entire planned session. Import acceptance is not current validity. Confirm trusted time rather than using browser clock agreement alone. Unsupported encrypted IMF cannot be made playable by bypassing validation.

Prepare the show and automation

Use Show Editor to arrange clips, black/delay and timed cues/macros in order. Save, reload, inspect readiness and rehearse on the final output. Missing/ambiguous cues show an amber warning while otherwise playable media can proceed; this means the planned automation may not happen. Repair/test those actions before relying on them.

If only standard cue names are needed, an administrator can use Config → Automation → Cues → Default TMS cues → Create missing empty TMS cues. These placeholders perform no device actions. Existing actions are preserved; the separate reset operation is destructive to standard cue actions and has its own confirmation.

Book and monitor the session

1. Open Scheduler, choose the correct week/day and place the saved show. Review start, end, turnaround and timezone.
2. Hover/focus/select a short session for its complete name and action controls. Increase Zoom when needed.
3. Check exceptions before copying days/weeks. Resolve reported conflicts.
4. Enable SCHED after the plan is ready. Manual transport is locked while it is enabled.
5. At showtime, inspect the actual active item and Status. Correlate the booking with named SPL/CPL start/end events and outcomes. Do not treat a loaded show as proof it ran.

Manual review and control

With SCHED off, load/preflight, play, pause, seek and stop as appropriate. Wait for pending navigation to settle. Jumps suppress skipped automation; confirm the auditorium state afterward. Stop does not promise to mute, light or close every external device.

Live presentations

Use AirPlay Casting for an enabled, configured receiver. Enter on Player only with playback stopped and SCHED off. Read the fresh code, connect one presenter and verify picture/sound. Sender disconnect leaves the receiver waiting; Leave Casting/Stop releases it. Recheck the restored stopped selection and intentionally restore SCHED afterward.

End of day

Review errors, failed work, storage and expiring keys. Confirm tomorrow’s programme and intended scheduler state. Lock the console. If closing is intended, focus the local window and press Shift+Q, or use Config → System → Power → Close Application. This also stops ingest/scheduling; the computer stays on. Closing the browser alone does not stop the player.
